AboutHAUNTED WATERS PRESS
THE PRESS
Thank you for visiting Haunted Waters Press. We are an independent publisher located in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia along the banks of the Shenandoah River.
THE STUDIO
Our goal is to bring to our readers engaging literature in the forms of poetry, prose poetry, and fiction. Our publications are available in electronic formats and traditional print. In our spare time, we enjoy getting a little ink on hands creating handbound originals and paper ephemera as we strive to celebrate the art of the book and letterpress printing. Our print studio consists of three presses: the Cooks Victor, the Baltimore #14, and a vintage sign press.
THE PUBLICATIONS
Our annual literary journal, From the Depths, featuring works of prose and poetry, is released in the fall of each year in print and digital formats. You will also find a steady stream of online literary content from our contributing authors featured within the pages of SPLASH! Our most recent project, Tin Can Literary Review Volume One debuted June 2021. We are interested in stories that entertain us, stories that captivate us, but most of all, stories that haunt us. Please visit HWP News and our Submissions page for the latest updates on open submissions and writing contests.
Fiction
Fiction is our compass. Our contributors and their captivating works keep us pointed in the right direction. When our journeys take us far away, it is the stories that guide us home.

Poetry
There is a certain joy that comes from reading poetry grounded in emotion and personal connections. Like the dropping of anchor at sea, we gravitate towards works which line by line draw us deeper into the present moment to settle and linger.

Flash Fiction
When we come upon a piece of exceptional flash, it feels a lot like organized lightning. It strikes and leaves a lasting impression. Penny Fiction, a regular feature of From the Depths, showcases exceptionally small sparks of fiction from 6 to 50 words.

WHAT ARE YOU WRITING?
We are interested in stories that entertain us, stories that captivate us, but most of all, stories that haunt us. We welcome both the profound and the quirky. We are open to most styles and genres of fiction, including speculative, dark, experimental, and literary. We enjoy all forms of poetry, including experimental, rhyming, free verse, and invented form. While we welcome deep, meaningful poetry, we also enjoy the witty, peculiar, or offbeat.
