MEET Alan Sincic
After an MA in Lit at the University of Florida and a poetry fellowship at Columbia, Alan earned his MFA at Western New England University. He spent over a dozen years in NYC as a writer and performer—comic/satirical pieces that eventually became a pair of full-length plays (American Obsessions and Breaking Glass) at the Orlando International Fringe Festival.
A teacher at Valencia College, he camps out now at coffee shops on the outskirts of Orlando, mumbles to himself, and writes.
Bacon
"Blame it on a sparsity of love—the drop-kick into the cradle or the smack of the belt or the back of the hand—but damned if we didn’t all of us lust after Maggie, picture her beside us, toy with a notion somehow, somewhere, to pluck her from the broom and the ladle and the hammer, from the blur of the day and the clamor of the till, to winch her up into our beasty arms and still her with a touch and then to hold her there, silent, in the dark, asleep or in a swoon, the moonlight there burning the sheet beside her, the scent of the damp earth in a drift above the sill."
Alan Sincic, Bacon
Tin Can Literary Review Volume One
Bacon was a Short Story Finalist for New Ohio Review Editor’s Prize and was featured online in their “Summer Exclusive” Issue (June 2019)
Respect
"A person of no account is what she was, and proud of it. She cared not a whit for what the talkers made of her, not the small talkers in a huddle above a bowl of punch or a mailbox or a bunting of undies in the sun, not the big talkers at the bar and the pier and the poker table, not even the silent talker who, with a tilt of the head at the sight of her, a sideward glance, a shade of a smile, obliterates her in the eyes of the others."
Alan Sincic, From the Depths, 2020
"The artwork that accompanied my story (Respect) is so beautiful I’m buying an extra copy of From The Depths, pulling out the page, framing it, and hanging it on the wall to remind me why I got into this crazy writing business in the first place." Alan Sincic
