MEET Rachel Hope Crossman
Rachel Hope Crossman had her mind blown at the age of eight when she moved from Athens, Greece, to Berkeley, California, right in the midst of the free speech movement. With her grandparents, she had learned to speak French, picnicked at the Acropolis, and swum in the sparkling turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. In Berkeley, she ran barefoot, protested the Viet Nam war with her parents, and was among the first children bussed to integrate the schools. A graduate of Berkeley High and Mills College, Oakland, Rachel still lives in Berkeley, still craves tyropetas, and still dreams of mythological monsters.
